Hello ALL,
Just bought a 1973 12 Automatic with electric PTO. Tractor appears to be completely authentic including the mower deck. The only exception appears to be the seat. I think it is not original. The mower deck has a small (rust?) hole. The PTO works intermittently and the tractor needs a paint job and cleanup but there is not a mark anywhere on the sheet metal that I can see and all the decals seem in place. Mostly I'm using it to pull a small wagon to haul fire wood so it is perfect for what I'm using it for. Someday if I can figure out the PTO, mowing would be a plus, but for now I have the deck removed.

hello , glad to hear from you, having removed your deck ,it would be a perfect time to detail clean the underside and spray it down with fluid film or your choice of penetrating oil. decks rot out from neglect and no underside cleaning. months of winter is perfect to let it sit upside down and soaking in oil. you can also do a basic maintenance to it. sharpen ,or replace blades, grease the spindles, check the belt and pulleys, look at the spring tension slider. your pto hook up is easy, look up pictures on this site. take advantage of your deck removal, save your deck, good luck Pete

Thanks for the advice Pete. I have the deck fairly clean and stored inside but I did not soak it down with oil yet. All the mower deck belts look fine, but I noticed a bad spot on the tractor drive belt I'll need to replace in the near future. Other than that I'm like a kid with a new toy.
