We just bought an older model Toro Wheel Horse Garden Tractor and Mower - Model 416-8. Would love a photocopy of service/repair manual....if such a thing exists. Does anyone have one that we could get a copy of?

What is the model number and serial number? Both should be on a decal on the rear fender pan under the seat. Model will look like 31-16K801 or 73440. The 416-8 was built 1985-1997 with 23 different models/years. Failing that post all the numbers you can find on the engine data decal.

Garry....thanks for the speedy reply. However, in the meantime, I found a website and explanation of how to search for the service manual....and I spent a couple of hours today printing it off. Turns out our 416-8 was made in 1991. I now need to know if there actually is an Operater/Owner Manual. Searched for a couple of hours today (while I was printing the Service Manual), and even the Toro site doesn't have an Owner's Manual for that model. I read somewhere on this site that there wasn't a manual for this model. Is that correct? Cliff

If it was made in 1991 it is a 1991 or 1992 model. You can order manuals and download others from

1991 Model 31-16O803 Use 1012345 for a serial number. (16=hp, O=Onan engine, 803 are all numbers)
Also try model number R1-16O804 and 2012345 for a serial number. Forgotten why I added this 1992 export model in my notes for the 1991 416-8.

Thanks once again....I went to the Toro site and got Service/Repair Manual on the Onan engine, 8-speed transmission repair guide, and the electrical circuit guides.....but Toro doesn't have an operating manual. That's curious.....what do other owners of 416-8 do for operating instructions? (As you can tell.....we are new to garden tractors.) Cliff

The 1991 manual can be ordered from that site for $2.00. If you can't get it to work on line use the Contact Us where there is an 800 number. Toro has been very good at getting copies out to members. If you have attachments might be a good time to look for those manuals and order at the same time if not available for download.

Both 1992 manuals are free downloads. The R1-16O804 manual includes the R1-16O803 which is a 1991 model.
