I have a C120 auto that has a deck in need of parts. I see no tag on the deck to indicate model. Blade tip to blade tip measures about 40.5" so I am unsure if its a 38 or 42?
I am looking for a model number of this deck, a parts listing, and if anyone has parts that would be great too!

Measure the blade length. Sounds like a 42"...

The 42" width of cut side discharge decks listed for the 1974-77 C-120 Autos are 5-1010 through 75-42MS01. Here is the history of those decks and most would fit your tractor.

5-1010 [S spindle] Replaces RL-426, 5-1421, 5-1422, 5-1423, 5-1000, 5-1001,
Replaced by 5-1011, 5-1012, 65-42MS01, 65-42MS02, 75-42MS01, 75-42MS02, 85-42MS01, 95-42MS00, 95-42MS01, 05-42MS01, 05-42MS02, 05-42MS03, 05-42MS04, 05-42MS05, 15-42SC01, 15-42SC02, 15-42SC03/78345

The spindle assemblies may be one way to narrow down the model.
5-1011 [K spindle]
5-1012 [J spindle]
65-42MS01 [K spindle]
65-42MS02 [K spindle]
75-42MS01 [K spindle]
75-42MS02 [L spindle]
There is a file in this Group
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/wheelhors ... rmanuals5/
named "Chart Mower Rotary Spindle ID 1969-89 #492-0392"
Membership is required. The parts in each assembly is shown and may help.

A complete deck parts list should be available here
http://www.partstree.com/parts/
Type Toro in the 2nd box and a long model number in the 3rd box.

Let us know what you figure out.

I am still trying to figure out exactly what I have. It appears that I have a S or K spindle. I really cannot see a difference other than one is "not serviceable", and one has parts available. Mine apart looks like a "k" but without knowing what a "s" looks like, I cannot tell.
I looked though the parts diagrams for all the decks you listed as possibilities. They all show the same type of belt guard consisting of 2 pieces sandwiching together with bolts though the side. Mine is one piece with bolts directly though the bottom to the deck.

From the picture you are showing, your belt cover is for non greasable jack shafts or blade shafts.those are sealed bearing type. The replacement shafts are greasable. I have a 42 inch deck with the same belt covers you have, they are 2 pieces they bolt directly to the deck, with holes over the spindles to grease them I notice your belt cover does not have holes over the spindles, that is what makes me believe yours is sealed bearings. You should go to a Toro Dealer maybe they can help you out, take a spindle with you to show them. Gary gave you a lot of information. Your deck looks like it may be original use 5-1010 for reference. Good Luck (working on these Wheel Horse Tractors takes a lot of TLC) Chas

Yes the bearings are sealed. The bottom one is a roller which rides directly on the shaft, no race which I thought was odd. I will pull apart the spindles today and see if they can be resurrected. My main problem is I am missing the center pulley and have some damage to one of the outers. I should be able to repair the outer one, but I really dont want to pull the trigger on the $100 center one.

The one-piece belt cover # 104988 shows as only being used on the (4) 42" side discharge decks that used the K spindles.

The rear discharge decks used 2 covers # 105830 # 105831 and only on the (2) RD decks that used the K spindles.

Would be insterested in knowing what bearings it uses. Will guess the upper ball is a R12-RS (1 seal) and the lower a 3/4" ID x 1" OD x? length. Be nice to have this info in the spindle charts for the next time.

top bearing is a R12z (shielded both sides) bottom bearing is a b 1212 or 3/4 bore, 1" OD, 3/4 wide. Both are very common bearings and should be sub$10 at any bearing supplier.

I am upgrading to fully sealed bearings as there is no provision to grease these.

So from this info can one narrow down what specific model deck this is?

The other decks listed seem to be for later models. I ran my serial and it came up a 74. I am guessing its a 5-1011?

That's what I'm thinking. Have spent the morning putting all the "Letter Spindle" part numbers in a database table in the first manuals Group. It is searchable. I was thinking that each one might have something to identify it or others that are similar and I think it might work. If you can identify a part of a spindle and are shure you are correct put that number in the search box and see what other spindles used that part. Not finished yet but give it a try. I'm using Empart to get the best part description possible without having the part. You can also click on each column title at the top and the data is then sorted using that column. If you click the title a second time it reverses the order. After you do this click on "Printable Report" at the top right and all the info will load onto one page. Use your BACK button to close it. This is where it's at.

Thanks for the bearing numbers.

The schematic you see in the Toro MPV for 42" deck model # 5-1010 is NOT the schematic for a 42" deck. It is for a 48" deck that has similar parts. This is very misleading and causes lots of confusion to users, and is only expedient for Toro.

To see the schematic of a 42" deck with the single belt cover, enter model # 5-1000. It will show you the belt cover for a 42" deck which has mounting screws directly into the deck shell.

I have at least 15 original 'Double-D" spindels to fit the deck you have, and I have the LT RT and Center pulleys too.

For pics, details, and price, EXIT THIS FORUM and send me an email. I will reply with full details.

What is the model number of the deck? Or what is the width of cut and is it side or rear discharge? How many blade spindles?
